Every second weekend in September, the doors of variety of Aberdeen’s wealth of historic buildings are thrown open to allow the public the opportunity to see the inside of places they would not be allowed to, or would not normally dare go!
Doors Open Days aim to encourage all of us to enjoy and understand our local architectural environment and develop a better awareness of Scotland's rich built heritage and conservation issues.
Aberdeen’s first Doors Open Day took place on 10 September 1994 when 20 buildings were opened up to the public. The popularity of the first year guaranteed the event would continue and it celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2004.
Aberdeen City Heritage Trust has supported Doors Open Day (Aberdeen)from 2005-10 and continues to be involved in the organisation committee.
Put a date in your diary for this year's event on 11 September 2010 and join us to explore some of Aberdeen's Architectural treasures. For further details about Doors Open day contact Paul Pillath on 01224 522228 Email paulp@aberdeencity.gov.uk
