Aberdeen City Heritage Trust helps take care of the historic environment by offering discretionary grants for the repair or restoration of historic buildings in conservation areas.
Additionally grants may be available for carrying out tree management works where a tree is recognised by designation to contribute to amenity.
There is no automatic entitlement to a grant because a property falls in a conservation area or a tree is a protected tree; even if this means the owner has to carry out work in a particular way to obtain statutory permissions.
Other potential sources of funding for historic building repair in Aberdeen are Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
A separate grant scheme called the Green Townscape Heritage Initiative or THI is currently operating in the centre of Aberdeen. For further details click here
