Our vision is that Aberdeen’s historic environment will be better understood, conserved, used and celebrated.

Aberdeen City Heritage Trust helps take care of the historic environment by making available a limited number of discretionary grants. The Trust operates Building Repair, Shopfront and Community Heritage Grants. These support property owners and communities explore, interpret and look after their heritage.

The Trust decides where to direct its funding in order to meet its objectives at any time. There is no automatic entitlement to a grant because a project falls in a conservation area or is a listed building.

Trust’s grants are separate from any requirement property owners may have to comply with planning legislation as part of a project, which is dealt with separatley by the local planning authority Aberdeen City Council. It is adviseable to seek early advice from the Council on any project where the historic built environment is being altered.

In certain circumstances Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund may be able to provide funding for projects.
