Each year, Historic Scotland has awarded more than 100 grants to private owners and others to help towards the cost of repairing many of
Grants can help owners meet the costs of specialist craftsmen using traditional materials to conserve original features in buildings of architectural or historic interest. In return, owners must insure and maintain the building, and allow some access to visitors.
Major projects can attract funds from other sources, including the European Union, local enterprise companies, local authorities, the Heritage Lottery Fund and housing agencies.
