| Discovery
of flint tools in the city centre show that people have lived
in this area for thousands of years. Flint is a stone which
can be chipped away to make a razor-sharp edge for cutting.
Piles of old seashells have also been found. These were rubbish,
thrown away after shellfish had been eaten. |
