Union Street, King Street and other streets were built so that there was more space in the city.

To make Union Street longer a bridge was built over the Denburn. Aberdeen’s architects laid out squares and Terraces.

In 1891 Aberdeen was extended to include Old Aberdeen and Torry which up until then had been separate towns.
