| What
is a Building at Risk? |
A Building “at Risk” is any historic building that is in danger of suffering damage or being lost from Scotland’s rich architectural legacy. In Scotland a Building at Risk could be a Listed Building or any other historically interesting building that makes a positive architectural or historic contribution to an area.
A Building at Risk is not necessarily in immediate danger. Buildings at Risk can be roofless shells with the potential for reinstatement or be in fair condition having only recently been vacated but potentially threatened by prolonged disuse. Many simply lie derelict and neglected, prey to vandalism, rot and the destructive forces of rampant vegetation.
