Building Maintenance Essentials

Find out more about caring for traditional buildings and places of worship.

Join the Trust on Saturday 7 March 9.30am at Aberdeen Arts Centre to find out more about how to maintain your traditional building in our Building Maintenance Essentials event.

There will be a particular focus on maintaining places of worship, but all types of traditionally constructed buildings will be covered. There will be plenty of time to ask questions about your property.

Craig Wilson of the Scott Sutherland School of Robert Gordon University teaches building surveying- including building pathology and will set the scene for the day, highlighting why maintenance matters.

We are pleased to have Ian Davidson with us to present on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. Ian has years of experience as a conservation accredited Chartered Building Surveyor in North East Scotland, including  working on National Trust for Scotland properties. Ian’s focus will be Places of Worship maintenance. For further details and booking BUILDING MAINTENANCE ESSENTIALS via Eventbrite  BOOK HERE.

In the afternoon,  Craig Wilson and Douglas Campbell of the Trust will lead a guided walk in central Aberdeen from 1pm, highlighting significant architecture and maintenance issues.  The tour will end with an opportunity to visit St Andrews Cathedral in King Street.
