Heritage Projects Supported in Scotland’s Cities
Historic Environment Scotland is making up to £19.5 million available to City Heritage Trusts across Scotland

The funding will be distributed through Scotland’s City Heritage Trusts. It will be used for repair and re-use of historic buildings, training of traditional and specialist skills and outreach activity including exhibitions.
For the first time, funding packages will be increased from three to five years allowing individual Trust’s to take on longer-term projects and develop their own delivery programmes.
City Heritage Trust Chair, Craig Wilson said:
“Aberdeen City Heritage Trust welcomes the news of continuing support from Historic Environment Scotland for the period 2026-2031. This further commitment to City Heritage Trusts will allow the Trust in Aberdeen to build on its track-record of delivering activity aimed at looking after and celebrating Aberdeen’s rich architectural and historic heritage.”
Programmes to be delivered by Trusts across Scotland will leverage investment in the historic built environment, support jobs, skills and contribute to the sense of place of our cities.
Further details of Aberdeen City Heritage Trust’s activities will be published later in 2026.
